PLC Controlled Very Large Plate Saw (Thomastown VIC)
Purpose
The stripping and cutting of aerospace grade aluminium plate without heat degradation.
Specifications
This is the largest saw of its type in Australia and is capable of stripping a 4.5 metre long x 150mm thick plate lengthwise without heat damage. It was built in 2003 in Australia by Rosebank Engineering and is fully automatic with Wilson Bradley PLC controls.

Multi-Axis, Multi-Function CNC Machining Centre (St Marys NSW)
Purpose
This proposal is to offer to industry a co-ordinated design and parts manufacturing system whereby new designs can be created and parts manufactured, in both small and medium quantities, at a price approaching mass produced parts from the one machine, in one setup. Thus, the most complex of parts can be completed in a 1 m/c cycle. Fitted with a bar feeder, medium and large quantity parts can be manufactured in a 'lights out' situation for reduced machining costs.
Specifications
A small number of these machines are installed in Australia, but are used for special parts manufacture and are not generally available on a sub-contract basis.

Automatic Plasma Circumferential Seam Welder (Shepparton VIC)
Purpose
Circumferential, seam and other welds on stainless steel tanks and pressure vessels.
Specifications
Only one of its kind in Australia. European technology developed for tank fabrication. Provides superior weld integrity and finish.

Dishing & Knuckling Machine (Shepparton VIC)
Purpose
To manufacture dished heads (Steel) for incorporation into tanks and vessels.
Specifications
Largest diameter head capability on east coast of Australia.

Laser Welding Machine (Shepparton VIC)
Purpose
To manufacture heat exchange components that can be integrated into the body of equipment such as tanks, conveyors etc.
Specifications
The use of vacuum clamping and laser welding enables new applications of dimple and other products.

Plasma Cutter (Campbellfield VIC)
Purpose
Cutting all types of material up to 65mm thick. High definition for clean cuts.
Specifications
Larger table area 16mtr x 4.8mtr to cut larger material sizes. Fitted with bevel head to produce weld prep up to 40mm thick. Fitted with Pronest 08 programming.

Very Large Press Brake (Campbellfield VIC)
Purpose
Folding or bending high tensile steel up to 12 metres long with up to 2000 tonne force.
Specifications
Pressing material full length eliminates the need for x-ray, plus crack testing complying with Australian standards saving 30% on lead time with no welding time required. Built as tandem the 2 presses may also press individually to double productivity on shorter lengths.

Sealed Austempering Furnace (Clayton VIC)
Purpose
Provide sealed quench Austempering of steel products.
Specifications
Sealed quench Austemper furnaces not commercially available. SQ9A built by Metal Treatment Services to provide for a specific customer requirement. Generally this technology not considered possible to manufacture.

EOSINT M 270 - Direct Metal Laser Sintering (Ingleburn NSW)
Purpose
Direct metal laser sintering (DMSL) is a technology that fuses metal powder into a solid part by melting it locally using a focused laser beam. Parts are built layer by layer, allowing for high complexity parts and mould inserts to be created directly from CAD data with excellent accuracy, resolution, and mechanical properties of the finished parts.
Specifications
The latest generation machine from EOS is the EOSINT M 270, which has a build envelope of 250 x 250 x 216mm (9.8 x 9.8 x 8.5 inches). The standard machine operates in a nitrogen atmosphere, whereas the titanium-capable version of the machine uses an argon atmosphere. Both versions of the M 270 machines use a 200-watt ytterbium (Yb) fiber laser and can build in layers that are 20 microns in thickness.

Direct Metal Deposition Machine(Hawthorn VIC)
Purpose
Direct Metal Deposition (DMD) additive manufacturing facility for fabricating fully dense parts using a range of powder metals with a large work envelope (2000 x 1000 x 750 mm). Ideally suited for re-manufacturing, tool repair and creating graded metal structures.
Specifications
The POM DMD505 machine is presently only one in Australia. Uses fused metal powder deposition process with a 5kW CO2 laser and a multi-axis nozzle with closed loop control to deposit metal on a fixed platform. Metal powders include tool steel, stainless steel, Nickel based, Cobalt based, Titanium based, and cermets. Applications include remanufacturing or repair of broken tools, turbine blades, expensive components, fabrication of lattice structure, bimetallic structures, functionally graded materials, profiling, facing and volume building.

Deep Hole Drilling - Giana TB1000 (Bayswater VIC)
Purpose
Using counter rotation, the Giana is capable of precision drilling large, deep bore holes over a length of 69” (1752mm).
Specifications
Current tooling is able to produce holes from 25mm to 93mm diameter. Maximum material diameter is 12” (300mm). Specialised assistance will be required to operate the equipment.
