Information Publication Scheme
The Information Publication Scheme aims to transform the freedom of information framework from one that responds to individual requests
for access to dcouments to one that requires Australian Government agencies to take a proactive approach to publishing information.
The scheme commences on 1 May 2011.
The IPS:
- Requires Australian Government agencies to publish information publication plans
- Specifies categories of information that must be published
- Provides a means of agencies to proactively publish other government information

Freedom of Information
Reforms to the Freedom of Information Act 1982 introduced fundamental changes to the way information held by government is
managed and accessed by members of the public. OAIC has published information on "What's changed in FOI?"
The Freedom of Information Act 1982 (the FOI Act) provides a general right of access to documents held by
the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research and other Commonwealth agencies.
From 1 May 2011, Enterprise Connect is required to maintain a list of documents released under the FOI Act.
Information about the documents released by Enterprise Connect will be available from the
Freedom of Information Disclosure Log available on the Department of Innovation website.

The Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research is currently reviewing and updating its Freedom of Information content.
Applications for access to Departmental documents are made under section 15 of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act.
Requests should be directed to FOI@innovation.gov.au clearly stating that access is being sought under
the Freedom of Information Act 1982 with a clear description of the documents being requested.
