Background:
Throughout her 25 year career in Australia and the United States, Sonya has been involved in the creative industries, whether in a business/management capacity or as a practitioner. She has extensive business development and general management experience and has worked in a variety of creative industries sectors, including advertising, fine arts museum, interactive design, games development, jewellery design and boutique jewellery manufacturing, interactive training development and delivery, and multimedia.
She co-founded and managed her own company, which specialised in concept and content development including massive multi-player games, training development and delivery, web development, and interpretive museums.
Sonya was part of the management team that applied for and established the CRC for Interaction Design at QUT, where she was responsible for the set-up, operations and generalĀ management of the organisation. This was followed by four years working as a business consultant to micro business and SMEs in the creative industries where she provided business, operational, and strategic advice.
Sonya has always had a passion for both business and the creative industries and has sought those opportunities where she could combine the two. As a Business Adviser she has found the perfect combination to work with creative industries practitioners to achieve their goals.
Qualifications:
Sonya holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a major in printmaking and a minor in painting. She also holds a Masters in Business Administration (Private and Public Management). In addition,she has completed her initial training as a goldsmith.
