Background:
The past three years have seen Sarah provide support to the expansion of the renewable energy industry in Australia. As General Manager, Industry Development with the industry's peak body, the Clean Energy Council (and its predecessor organisation the Australian Wind Energy Association – Auswind), Sarah worked with the diverse range of member companies to address areas of impediment to the industry's growth and to promote best practice.
Prior to that, Sarah worked with local government in Victoria, in roles including governance, strategic planning and advocacy, for the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV). Portfolio areas of responsibility included elected councillor governance training and advice, emergency management, tax reform, food safety and tobacco reform. Sarah was also primarily responsible for supporting the governance of the MAV itself including annual reporting and strategic planning.
Sarah commenced her career, working within local government in Victoria with the Keilor City Council (pre Victorian local government amalgamations), and Brimbank City Council through the amalgamation and establishment of a new municipality processes.
Sarah brings to her role of Innovative Regions Facilitator a strong understanding of the role of governments in relation to economic development, strategic planning and the promotion of innovation, along with knowledge of some of the challenges confronting emerging industries.
Sarah aims to support the region that she is chartered with (north west and northern Tasmania), by working collaboratively with stakeholders in facilitating the growth of a vibrant and innovative economy, that can adjust to the structural challenges confronting it and take advantage of the unique opportunities that present.
