Background:

John has worked in the Australian manufacturing industry for over 30 years.

Combining a professional engineering background with commercial skills, consulting experience and plant management roles has given John a unique ability to work effectively with personnel at all levels within an organisation.

Starting his career with Email Westinghouse as a cadet engineer, John completed a fitting and machining apprenticeship while completing his University qualifications through part time study. John has held a number of senior management positions with Australian and international organisations working to achieve world class manufacturing results.

He has worked as a production engineer, quality system lead auditor, management consultant, engineering manager and operations plant manager and combines technical skills with effective people management experience.

Being able to grasp technical issues and their financial impact on business performance, John assists organisations to understand current performance limitations and can provide guidance on how to achieve world class performance.
John is an ardent supporter of Lean Manufacturing principles and has seen first hand how this powerful approach to running a business helps firms get on track to achieve great results, including long term cost reduction and quality improvement.

John adds value to the organisations he works with by challenging employees and managers to learn new skills and identify how to eliminate waste by simplifying and streamlining business processes in the office and on the shop floor.

Qualifications:

John has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a  Master of Commerce (Accounting) from the University of NSW.  He has also completed a four year apprenticeship in the fitting and machining trade.
