Background:
Additional to his consultancy experience, Herman brings over 30 years of extensive senior management experience in leading, turning around and growing businesses in the manufacturing and service sectors within Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia and China. Business unit annual sales turnovers under his stewardship have ranged between $5 million up to $140 million, with significant export components.
Over the later sixteen years of Herman’s industry experience, he has been highly successful at management, regional sales and marketing and regional operations director level roles within listed and private companies including multinationals. He has been engaged in both manufacturing and supplying based commodity and high tech industrial products and services to the industrial, consumer goods, packaging, construction goods, engineering, retail, printing, media/advertising and government markets within Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia and China.
It was during this time that Herman successfully grew an Australian based industrial products manufacturing business from a turnover of $18 million to $140 million per annum over a 12 year period, in the process expanding its footprint in terms of both markets and manufacturing and distribution facilities within Asia.
His broad industry experience and sectors of responsibility have incorporated strategic planning; business development; sales and marketing; manufacturing product development; research and development; process engineering; TPM; Capex; procurement both local and international; warehousing and logistics and their integration; profit and loss, balance sheet and ultimately financial performance of the businesses under his stewardship. Many of those businesses have involved both multiple manufacturing and sales/distribution facilities spread throughout the international region, together with further third party channels to market.
His professional background and qualification is in mechanical engineering and he has extensive practical experience in the application of ‘lean’, closed loop processes and ‘world best practice’ methodologies. Having held Managing Director roles, within both the private and listed business sectors, he also brings sound experience in working with Boards, as well as possessing an understanding of associated reporting requirements and corporate governance principles.
