John has extensive general management experience in small to large manufacturing organisations covering FMCG (Food and Beverage), Pharmaceutical and Heavy Industrial, in roles of General Manager Crane Copper Tube, Director of Operations Berri Ltd and General Manager Manufacturing National Foods Juice. Most recently undertaking consulting roles Sanitarium Health Food Company, Cement Australia and University of Western Sydney.
In these roles the main areas of involvement have been strategic business planning, change management, supply chain, cost reduction and productivity improvement programmes with a strong HR focus.
John holds a Masters Degree in Science (MSc) and a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA).

Kenneth has worked in South Australia and Victoria, in small business, corporate and SME roles. Kenneth moved back to his native South Australia in 1997 after several years in Victoria to take up the role of General Manager, then Managing Director, of IOOF Trustees Group. He subsequently was appointed as CEO/Director of Financial Services within David Garry/Garrison Accounting group.
Kenneth has experience starting up new enterprises and distribution channels and has acted as a champion of change in a number of business environments. He was awarded an Outstanding Achievement Award at National Australia Financial Management (subsidiary to NAB) for developing a national distribution channel through intermediaries.
Kenneth has a genuine passion for strategic planning, assessing business opportunities and new markets. He has an MBA from Adelaide University a Diploma of Public Relations and a Diploma of Business Planning.
Kenneth has written marketing and business plans, which have validated concepts assisting with new product and service development for SMEs within both the service and manufacturing sectors.

Paul Hodgson has been appointed Queensland Director of Enterprise Connect.
Paul has more than 16 years' experience in assisting major companies, SMEs, government, community and research institutions, particularly in terms of R&D, innovation, marketing, sustainability and community engagement.
For the past four years, Paul has been Co-Founder and Managing Director of Sustainnovation Pty Ltd, a consultancy aimed at helping organisations develop and implement longer-term and bigger-picture visions and strategies. In addition to his clean-tech and sustainable business focus at Sustainnovation, he was also Global Business Development Director and an Accredited Facilitator for the Better Buyer Relationships program, and an Ideas2Market Facilitator for the Australian Institute for Commercialisation.
Paul has a Master of Sustainable Development, a Bachelor of International Business, a Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training and is a Certified Developer of Enterprise. He has also completed the University of Queensland's Organisational Change for Corporate Sustainability Executive Education program.

Rod Nelson has extensive senior experience in the public sector and the automotive, logistics and aviation industries.
As Customs and Materials Planning Manager at General Motors Holden, Rod was responsible for the company's compliance under the Australian Motor Vehicle Manufacturing Plan.
He subsequently became Managing Director and CEO of MSAS Cargo International in Australia and New Zealand and CEO of Air Niugini, the national airline of Papua New Guinea.
As Quality Director of the UK-listed company, Ocean Group, Rod led a customer-focused TQM initiative that sought improvement and growth for the Group's business units around the world. The initiative used a range of methodologies and analytical tools, similar to those employed in the Business Review and Tailored Advisory Service services of Enterprise Connect.
Rod qualified to assess firms against business excellence award criteria at the University of Bristol's Quality Centre and has been trained to benchmark Australian firms against world's best practice. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce and an MBA, and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Su-Lin Kwa is a lawyer and has a strong background in SME development issues. Su-Lin joins Enterprise Connect initiative from her previous role as Western Australia State Manager of AusIndustry.
Su-Lin has held a number of senior management roles within the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, working with innovative, export-focused firms. Other diverse roles within the Department encompass business analysis, policy advice, marketing and communications.
Su-Lin was called to the Bar of England and Wales. Other qualifications include a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment, MBA and Diploma of Project Management.

Keith Calvert has lived, studied and worked in Northern Tasmania for the past 14 years, gaining significant local business experience in both the private and public sectors. His private sector experience has been with the Tasmanian food manufacturing sector where he has worked with two nationally recognised brands in the areas of supply chain management, business development, new product development and marketing. The key functions within these roles involved the coordination of product supply to Coles, Woolworths, Aldi and independent supermarkets, as well as developing and enhancing access to export markets.
In the public arena, Keith spent three years working in partnership with the Tasmanian and Australian governments, together with the eight councils that form the region known as Northern Tasmania. The project aimed to gain more collaborative thinking on economic and community development, and culminated in the creation of a regional body whose charter was to promote, advocate and maximise funding opportunities for the Northern region.
Keith has been with Enterprise Connect since its inception playing a significant role in the establishment of the Tasmanian Manufacturing Centre. Most recently, Keith held the position of Industry Development and Business Adviser involving extensive consultation and relationship building with all stakeholders, including industry and government representatives, and potential and existing clients.
Keith holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Aquaculture) (Hons) and will take an operational focus in Tasmania, overseeing the delivery of all aspects of Enterprise Connect for local clients. Keith is supported by two office staff and four experienced Business Advisers placed throughout the state, and looks forward to Tasmania making a positive contribution to the national network.

Centre Director Profile
Peter has extensive experience in the general management and commercial areas of the mining industry. Most recently he has been General Manager Sales & Marketing at HMG Westhill Pty Ltd before which he was Director and part-owner of Longwall Associates Australia Pty Ltd.
He has also held positions as Queensland Manager of Inbye Mining Service, Queensland Manager of Continental Conveyor, Queensland Operations Manager of Australian Longwall/Meco International/Dowty, and North-East Sales Manager of Joy Mining.
In a number of these positions Peter has been involved directly in negotiating international trade contracts and in particular has had significant success in securing a number of high-value contracts with Chinese corporations.
Peter's experience and expertise give him strong knowledge and insight into mining business issues and into the factors that make a business innovative, successful and competitive.

Brenda has extensive executive experience working for the Northern Territory Government and Telstra in New South Wales and the Northern Territory. She has a background in business and regional development, employment and training, as well as communications and stakeholder management. Brenda also ran her own consultancy business, Strategic Gold Communication, for a number of years.
Brenda has a BA Journalism, a Grad Dip Education, a Grad Dip Leadership and Change Management, Diploma AICD Company Directors Course and Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training.

Dr Gillian Sparkes has extensive experience working with manufacturing and service industries for improved business outcomes. Before joining Enterprise Connect, Gillian was CEO of the Australian Sustainable Industry Research Centre (ASIRC), an applied R&D organisation and Monash University partner, established to link industries to technologies and innovation in the area of environmental sustainability. Gillian has held senior management roles with private and public groups including with BHP Steel, Brambles and EPA Victoria. She also has run small and medium enterprises through her own consulting company and more recently as CEO of ASIRC.
Gillian is passionate about developing and delivering industry support programs and has been involved in many business-improvement initiatives. She was Chair of the Victorian Water Industry, Sustainable Energy Use Working Group, which developed a framework for greenhouse gas reductions for the industry. Gillian is a member of the Advisory Group for the Commissioner for Environmental Sustainability in Victoria, the Victorian Government's Bio-Economy Working Group and the Independent Assessment Panel for the Smart Water Fund. Gillian has Chaired the Tullamarine Hazardous Waste Landfill Community Consultative Committee from 2005-2008 and has been a Director of South Gippsland Water and chair of the SGW Board Environment Committee since 2004.
Gillian completed a doctorate in Applied Science (Chemistry) in the area of minerals processing and also has an MBA.
Most recently, Gillian established the Enterprise Connect Tasmanian Manufacturing Centre.

Tony Quick is the Director of the Enterprise Connect Defence Industry Innovation Centre. Tony has spent most of his career in General Management, International Business Development and Programme Management. In 1993 he joined Westland Helicopters (A GKN Company at that time) as Deputy to the Sales and Marketing Director, moving to take over the Programme Management of a UK RAF Helicopter programme.
In October 2000 he left Westland to emigrate to Australia and set up GKN Aerospace Engineering Services Pty Ltd (GKNAES) where he was the Director and General Manager from August 2001 until May 2009. GKNAES was an Aerospace Engineering company which has been a leading player in the Joint Strike Fighter program, with over 200 engineers involved in the design and analysis of the three variants.
Tony is a Director of the Defence Materials Technology Centre and he chairs the Design Victoria Advisory Board and is a member of the Future Manufacturing Industry Innovation Council. He was one of the founding co-chairs of the JSF Airframe Vehicle and Propulsion Systems Industry Capability Team and a member of the JSF Industry Advisory Committee. He chaired the Joint Steering Committee for the implementation of the Action Agenda for Aerospace.

State Director Profile
Lisa Colley has extensive experience in government relations, policy and program development at a senior management level in the Arts and Cultural sectors. She has been Director of Exhibitions, Events and Projects at University of Technology Sydney (UTS) since 2007.
Prior to this she made her mark at the Australia Council for the Arts as the inaugural Manager of the New Media Arts Board and then Executive Director of Policy, Communication, driving key policy debates and submissions across a diverse range of issues affecting artists and arts organisations.
Lisa has a Master of Management from UTS and is a non Executive Director of the Arts and Health Foundation a registered charity she founded in 2006.
