With funding of $10 million over four years, the Remote Enterprise Centre will be based in Alice Springs and provide a range of services designed to link remote small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to new ideas, technologies and markets. It will support businesses not only in remote regions of the Northern Territory, but also in remote areas of Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia.
The centre will:
- Provide a comprehensive review of the firm that identifies its strengths and weaknesses of the firm, strategic business issues, potential areas for business improvement and growth;
- Provide grants for addressing areas identified by the review for improvement/growth;
- Connect remote businesses to technical experts, scientific advice and the latest technology existing in other firms as well as research institutions;
- Identify complementary businesses that could lead to new business opportunities;
- Identify new markets and provide advice on legal and regulatory issues; and
- Compile a directory of remote enterprises, and feed information to the National Industry Capability Network.
For further information, call the Enterprise Connect Hotline between the hours of 9.00am and 5.00pm (AEST) on 131 791 (Australian callers only) or email
